For those of you that are AOPA members, you can download free mission planning software that makes flight planning a cinch. Just put in your departure airport and destination and the software does everything else for you, including filling out a flight plan with weather and TFR overlays, a mission card, and maps you can print out. I also find Airnav has a lot of useful information on airports and associated businesses, including fuel prices, pilot reviews, car rentals and downloadable charts. To check NOTAMS, try this DOD website. If you want to take a look at free electronic sectionals, I suggest SkyVector. Finally, don’t forget to call 1-800-WXBRIEF to file a flight plan or click here. If you are a Member, you can access aircraft specific flight planning tools, such as interactive weight and balance forms, online AFMs and POHs, pilot reference guides for avionics and other common equipment.
