Career Pilot Training Print

Our professional pilot courses are designed for those of you who wish to have a career in aviation.  Depending on which courses you enroll in, you can leave Monarch Sky with all the skills necessary to earn money as a professional pilot.  We show you how to earn your ratings and build your experience in the least amount of time for the least amount of money.  We also stack the deck in your favor by ensuring that you build the kind of experience that aviation employers are looking for.  While it is nearly impossible to describe all of the ways in which one goes about becoming a professional pilot, we have illustrated 3 of the most common career paths for new aviation professionals and their associated costs.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING:  The experience requirements for each course are derived from FAA regulations and may not represent the actual amount of training required to achieve the specified rating.  The timeline and prices quoted for each program are based on minimum hours.  Additional training will be billed at an hourly rate and could extend the graduation date.

PREREQUISITES:  All Monarch Sky courses and pricing assume that students meet the FAA prescribed experience prerequisites.  If students wish, Monarch Sky can provide Time Building in order to meet all prerequisites.

Flight Instructor Track

The goal for most aspiring aviation professionals is to quickly transition from being a student pilot to being paid to fly.  Typically, the least expensive and most direct route to this goal is to become a flight instructor.  The progression typically goes from Private Pilot --> Instrument --> Commercial --> Certified Flight Instructor (CFI).  To reach this milestone, you will need a minimum of 250 hours (Part 61) or 190 hours (Part 141) of flight time and at least 120 days to complete your training.  You also have the option to get your CFI instrument, multi engine add-on and multi engine instructor.  Once you start instructing, you can quickly build enough time and experience to qualify for a Part 135 charter pilot or a Part 121 regional airline.

Corporate or Charter Track

For those of you that have little or no interest in flight instruction, you can transition straight from commercial pilot to corporate or Part 135 charter pilot.  Monarch Sky gives you an advantate in this progression, since we train you in the most sophisticated aircraft currently on the market.  For example, with the Fully Automated Digital Engine Control (FADEC) and the G-1000 glass cockpit of the DA42 Twin Star, this aircraft is configured more like a turbine aircraft than a typical trainer.  Experience in this type of aircraft goes a long way when you apply for a job with a Part 135 charter operator.

Advanced Instructor

Many professional pilots choose to become expert flight instructors.  The typical path is Private --> Instrument --> Commercial --> Multi-engine Add-on --> CFI --> CFII --> MEI.  With these certificates and ratings, you are very marketable with flight schools and you will quickly build the type of experience that regional airlines are looking for.
